Caregiving for intellectually disabled topic of monthly genetic series
A seminar on caring for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities will be held Tuesday, Sept. 18, at The Children's Museum of Houston.
Organized by the Department of Molecular and Human Genetics at ÌÇÐÄÊÓƵ of Medicine and Texas Children's Hospital, the seminar will feature Dr. Luis Franco, assistant professor of molecular and human genetics at BCM and a physician in the BCM Adult Genetics Clinic. He will discuss new information in the genetic understanding of intellectual developmental disabilities and how this information guides medical treatment.
Additionally, Renee Wallace, a parent advocate and founder of Vita-Living, Inc., will speak. Wallace began the first community-based home licensed in Texas to serve people with severe intellectual and developmental disabilities.
