The Basic Educators' Course
Join your colleagues in the 8-week Basic Educators' Course from the Huffington Department of Education, Innovation and Technology at ÌÇÐÄÊÓƵ of Medicine, where we take a close look at the systematic thinking process behind high-quality education.
Early-career and seasoned educators in medicine, the health professions, and the basic sciences will build curriculum skills and innovative teaching strategies they can apply right away in classrooms, clinical settings, and labs to improve educational outcomes and the success of future professionals. The course is offered asynchronously online with weekly "touchpoints," virtual face-to-face sessions where learners gather in small groups to apply what they have learned, deepen their understanding of key concepts, and build relationships with colleagues. By the end of the course, each participant has developed their own educational plan or product grounded in the principles taught throughout.
- Course Director: Dr. Tyson Pillow
- Associate Course Director: Dr. Sherita Love
- Course Administrator: Ms. Jessica Klotman
What Will Be Covered
The course engages learners in the following topics:
- How the Brain Learns
- Involving All Learners

Expected Time Commitment
Plan for 3 to 5 hours each week to review and engage with the content and to attend a touchpoint (Thursday evenings). We ask that you participate in as many of the weekly modules as possible.
