Section Highlights
- The Section was once again recognized for excellence in endocrine care, with the Baylor St. Luke’s Medical Center Diabetes Program ranked among the nation’s top-performing programs and six faculty members named in Endocrinology, Diabetes, and Metabolism.
- Faculty continued to shape national diabetes and endocrine practice, highlighted by Dr. Mandeep Bajaj’s appointment as Co-Chair of the Professional Practice Committee, which develops the globally influential .
- The Section secured significant research support, including six new foundation grants and NIH subcontracts, as well as a five-year, $2.5 million NIH R37 award to Dr. Dongyin Guan for research on circadian biology and liver disease progression.
- Faculty achieved national and international research recognition, including Dr. Qiancheng Zhao’s selection as the Grand Prize Winner of the 2024 Science & PINS Prize for Neuromodulation and publication of his award-winning work in Science.
- Section investigators published impactful research in leading journals, including Nature Communications, Journal of Clinical Investigation, Cell Metabolism, Cell Reports, Diabetes Care, and the Journal of Clinical Endocrinology & Metabolism, advancing discoveries in metabolism, diabetes, obesity, and liver disease.
- The Section strengthened its commitment to education and trainee development through leadership of major endocrine conferences and symposia, expanded curriculum innovation at ÌÇÐÄÊÓƵ of Medicine, and national recognition of fellows and faculty for excellence in education and physician-scientist training.
