Professional Statement

I am a fortunate and grateful pediatric radiologist who strives to provide diagnostic accuracy and empathy to my patients, clarity and value to my colleagues, and strong leadership at home, work, and in my community. I have benefited from a long list of mentors who have taken the time to guide and advise me, and I feel I owe the same attention to others who work alongside me. No one is irreplaceable, and successful completion of complex tasks requires a diverse skill set encompassed by many people working together.

There are two core maxims to which I ascribe:

鈥淚f a relationship is not moving forward, it is moving backwards.鈥
鈥淲e always hope that one simple change will erase a problem in a stroke. Instead, success requires making a hundred small steps to go right- one after another- and with everyone pitching in.鈥

These statements are a constant reminder for me to invest in relationships鈥 to invest in people, whether within one鈥檚 family, work, or friends. None of the projects with which I have been involved would have been accomplished alone, and the contacts and lessons learned during many projects informed and taught me how to tackle the next series of challenges. By following these maxims, I have grown as a person and a leader, and have had greater influence than I ever would have had by myself. Plus, my career has been a lot more fun and rewarding! And while a career dedicated to children and children鈥檚 imaging warrants dedication and attention to detail, one cannot be successful in this field without being mindful of the mission we have undertaken.

Heal. Sick. Children.
