Professional Statement

Dr. Vicente Orozco-Sevilla, a triple-board certified general, vascular and cardiac surgeon, specializes in the entire spectrum of adult cardiac surgery with treatment of diseases of the heart and vascular system including coronary disease, valve disease and aortic aneurysms. Along with performing coronary artery bypass surgery Dr. Orozco has special interest and acquired extensive expertise in diseases and repair of the aortic valve and root, ascending aorta, aortic arch, descending thoracic aorta, and thoracoabdominal aorta. He was mentored by some of the pioneers in cardiac and vascular surgery and is honored to be able to incorporate into his practice specialized techniques that he was trained intensively in including mitral valve repair, off pump CABG and minimally invasive surgery. He also continues to improve his techniques as approaches to aortic reconstruction evolve as well as lead the advancement of aortic surgery by participating in clinical research on this topic.
As one of the few surgeons in the country who have formal training in both cardiothoracic surgery as well as vascular surgery he has a unique ability to perform both open surgery and endovascular procedures including transaortic valve replacement (TAVR) and thoracic endovascular aneurysm repair (TEVAR) for faster recovery times. He is highly experienced in complex aortic repair, such as repair performed in patients with connective tissue disorders (such as Marfan and Loeys-Dietz syndromes), re operations, as well as emergent repair in patients with conditions such as acute aortic dissection or aortic rupture. Dr. Orozco is excited to work at Baylor / Texas Heart Institute with his mentor Dr. Joseph Coselli, to help patients from around the world to treat the most complex of cardiovascular diseases.
