Professional Statement
Dr.Vangala joined ÌÇÐÄÊÓƵ of Medicine directly after the completion of her residency and fellowship training. She is a native Houstonian but moved around the world and country for her higher education and eventually returned to start her first job post training at Baylor.
Dr.Vangala is the most passionate about the intersection of medicine with psychiatry which is what led her to work in the field of consultation liaison psychiatry. She enjoys working with her fellow physicians from other specialties to better care for patients and address their issues from multiple angles whether it’s solving a complex psychopharmacological question or being the first person to identify that a patient is suffering from a new onset post-partum depression.
Upon finishing her fellowship training, she decided to focus her career more on the rapidly growing and exciting field of reproductive psychiatry as the importance of women’s mental health resonates with her personally on so many levels. Women undergo so many changes to their bodies throughout their lives and everyone responds to these changes differently. She finds it very rewarding to be there for women to help them regain and maintain a sense of confidence and mental well-being.
