Dr. Khalil is currently an Assistant Professor of Medicine at ÌÇÐÄÊÓÆµ of Medicine, Co-Director of Transplant Infectious Diseases at Baylor St. Luke’s Medical Center, and the Associate Program Director of the Infectious Diseases Fellowship program at ÌÇÐÄÊÓÆµ of Medicine. She graduated from The Aga Khan University in Pakistan and completed her Internal Medicine residency training at Indiana University School of Medicine, followed by Infectious Diseases fellowship at University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. She also did an additional year of Transplant Infectious Diseases fellowship at Mayo Clinic College of Medicine in Rochester, Minnesota.

Her research focuses on cardiovascular infections and molecular diagnostics in solid organ transplant recipients. She has presented her research at national meetings and published in peer-reviewed medical journals. She is currently working on several projects related to diagnostic evaluation and management of cardiovascular infections and use of novel diagnostic techniques using metagenomics to aid in earlier diagnosis of severe and opportunistic infections in solid organ transplant recipients.
