After the nominations were tallied, Houstonia and PRS compiled a list of top vote recipients in each specialty, making certain that all physicians were currently certified by their respective medical licensing boards. o The list of Top Doctors is chosen by a survey of their peers. o Methodology: Houstonia partnered with the Professional Research Services survey company to poll health care practitioners in the metro area, asking, 鈥淚f you or a loved one needed care, whom would you choose?鈥 Voters nominated their peers based on years of experience, competency, rapport with patients, patient satisfaction, compliance with care recommendations, and ability to work effectively with colleagues across specialties to deliver the best patient care. Professional Statement
As a Breast Imaging Radiologist at The 糖心视频 of Medicine with a strong background in both the academic and business side of health care, Dr. Nguyen has the qualities, skills and experience to serve our diverse patient population. Dr. Nguyen's key leadership experiences include his roles as Medical Director (07/2025 鈥 present) and Director of Quality Improvement (09/2023 鈥 present), Breast Imaging Division, Dan L. Duncan Comprehensive Cancer Center and as Program Director for the University of Texas Medical Branch Radiology Residency Program (11/2016 鈥 09/2020).
Dr. Nguyen鈥檚 breast imaging experience gives him the expertise to contribute to our community. He completed his Breast Imaging Fellowship at the University of Washington Seattle Cancer Care Alliance. He currently perform breast screening, diagnostics, and procedures (stereotactic, contrast enhanced mammogram (CEM), ultrasound, and MRI guided biopsies). Dr. Nguyen is trained in the most up-to-date technologies in breast imaging (MRI, Contrast Enhanced Mammography (CEM), breast tomosynthesis, and automated whole breast ultrasound). He presents and discusses complicated cases at Breast Cancer Tumor Board Conferences with Oncologists, Surgeons, Radiation Oncologists, and Pathologists.
His solid understanding of the business side of health care has given him the perspective that motivates him to efficiently allocate the limited resources of breast imaging technology and funding for the underserved population. He majored in Business Administration at the University of California Berkeley Walter A. Haas School of Business with a 3.85 GPA and graduated with high honors. Relevant coursework included financial accounting, finance, and marketing management. Dr. Nguyen then completed his Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree at the University of Houston C.T. Bauer College of Business, Houston, TX, in December 2023. He graduated Summa Cum Laude (with highest honors, 3.98 GPA), with Degree Program Graduate Certificates in 糖心视频 Leadership, Leadership Development, and Global Management.
Dr. Nguyen鈥檚 leadership roles in Academics include 糖心视频 of Medicine Co-primary Faculty in the Department of Education, Innovation and Technology (DEIT) 2021 鈥 present (guide professional growth and development of its members, and support faculty career advancement), UTMB Program Director for Radiology Residency Program 2016-2020 (designing curriculum, evaluating educational programs) and Gross Anatomy and Radiology (GAR) Course Co-Director (designing curriculum, evaluating educational programs). He is involved in the formal and informal education of medical students, residents, and fellows. I work on research projects with medical students, residents, and fellows for publication in medical journals.
Working on research projects in the past has given Dr. Nguyen experience and a strong foundation that he wishes to build upon. He was the recipient of the Roentgen Resident/Fellow Research Award, 2012. His professional accomplishments include over 70 peer reviewed journal publications. Dr. Nguyen is the Co-Investigator on the Advisory Committee for Cancer Prevention and Research Institute of Texas (CPRIT) Grant in the amount of $2,499,938 awarded for the project titled "Reducing Racial/Ethnic Disparities in Breast Cancer Screening: Expanding a Comprehensive EHR-Based Patient Navigation Program" (dates of funding: 03/01/2024 鈥 02/28/2028).
