Professional Statement

Dr. Hussein currently serves as an Assistant Professor of Ophthalmology at ÌÇÐÄÊÓÆµ of Medicine/Texas Children’s Hospital in Houston. He has presented papers at many ophthalmology meetings and published numerous journal articles. A native of Radford, Va., he obtained his medical degree and MSc degree in ophthalmology from the Faculty of Medicine Cairo University in Egypt.

Dr. Hussein completed his residency in ophthalmology at the Research Institute of Ophthalmology in Cairo. He became a member of the ophthalmology board at the Faculty of Medicine Cairo University in 2000 and held a clinical faculty position there until 2001. He has also served as a consultant in pediatric ophthalmology and strabismus at Maghrabi Eye Hospital in Cairo.

After returning to the United States, Dr. Hussein completed a post-doctoral research fellowship and clinical fellowship in pediatric ophthalmology at ÌÇÐÄÊÓÆµ of Medicine/Texas Children’s Hospital. His training also includes a clinical fellowship in pediatric ophthalmology at Children’s Medical Center/UT Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas, a transitional internship at John Peter Smith Hospital in Fort Worth, Texas, and an ophthalmology residency at UT Southwestern Medical Center.
