Professional Statement

Research Focus: I am an epidemiologist with research interests in pediatric infectious diseases, public health surveillance, vaccine effectiveness, and vaccine hesitancy. Much of my work has focused on the epidemiology of respiratory and gastrointestinal viruses in young children, the role of these viruses in pediatric emergency department use and hospitalization, and the post-licensure assessments of rotavirus and influenza vaccine effectiveness. My research interests have recently expanded to include parental vaccine hesitancy and concerns about vaccine safety, and I am an active collaborator on studies assessing the prevalence of vaccine hesitancy among parents of children in the Greater Houston area and nationally among parents of children with autism spectrum disorders.
