Professional Statement
Dr. Jeffrey S. Heinle’s research interests include, but are not limited to, cerebral and myocardial protection during cardiac surgery, early extubation following congenital heart surgery, minimally invasive procedures in congenital heart surgery, advances in congenital heart surgery, and improving the outcomes following congenital heart surgery.
Dr. Heinle has authored or co-authored 12 articles for scholarly and professional publications, such as the Journal of Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery, Surgical Forum, Transplantation, Annals of Thoracic Surgery, and the Journal of Surgical Research. He has also authored or co-authored seven book chapters, and has presented his research to professional audiences.
His writing and speaking topics have included early extubation of neonates and young infants after cardiac surgery; cerebral metabolic effects of hypothermic circulatory arrest; myocardial protection during congenital heart surgery; congenital anomalies of the chest wall; surgery for congenital heart disease; and heart valve recovery, preservation, and transplantation.
