Professional Statement

Janet Malek, PhD is a Professor of Medicine and Medical Ethics at ÌÇÐÄÊÓÆµ of Medicine's Center for Medical Ethics and Health Policy. She holds a PhD in Philosophy and Bioethics from Rice University and directs educational programs in health care ethics and professionalism for medical students, residents, and faculty. In addition, Dr. Malek serves as an ethics consultant at Houston Methodist, a national leader in clinical ethics consultation and training. She is actively involved in professional organizations, serving on the ethics committees of the North American Fetal Therapy Network and the American College of Emergency Physicians. She is also a Past Chair of the Board of Directors of the Academy for Professionalism in Health Care. Her research focuses on clinical ethics, genomic and reproductive ethics, and professionalism education.
