Professional Statement

Dr. Evan Li is board certified in both internal medicine and allergy/immunology. He completed medical school at the University of Illinois, and completed residency and fellowship training at the ÌÇÐÄÊÓƵ of Medicine. Following fellowship training, Dr. Li completed further research training under the NIH funded T32 grant, where he focused on the effects of chronic airway fungal infections as a cause of allergic airway diseases such as asthma, rhinitis and sinusitis. Dr. Li also investigated the effects of IL-13 on airway epithelial cells and how it leads to changes in airway stiffness. Dr. Li has a special interest in fungal mediated asthma and sinusitis, but is highly skilled in the treatment of allergic rhinitis (hay fever), urticaria (hives), atopic dermatitis (eczema), contact dermatitis, food allergies, eosinophilic disorders, drug allergies and immune deficiency disorders. Dr. Li offers a variety of different tests including skin testing to environmental allergens and foods, skin testing to evaluate drug allergies, patch testing for contact dermatitis and pulmonary function testing. Dr. Li also offers specialized treatments such as allergy immunotherapy (allergy shots) and various biologics (Xolair, Nucala, Fasenra and Dupixent) for rhinitis, asthma and eczema, as well as IVIG for immune deficiency disorders and autoimmune disorders.

In addition to his role as clinician, Dr. Li is also a talented educator and serves as the associate program director of the allergy and immunology fellowship program, as well as one of the specialty educational coordinators for the internal medicine residency program. Dr. Li has personally trained dozens of past residents and fellows and regularly gives lectures on clinical and basic science topics relating to allergy and immunology. Dr. Li is often sought out to give grand round lectures to other departments at the ÌÇÐÄÊÓƵ of Medicine on allergy topics relating to their specialties.
