Dr. Enrique Garcia-Sayan is an Associate Professor of Medicine at ÌÇÐÄÊÓƵ of Medicine and serves as the Medical Director of Non-Invasive Cardiology at Baylor St. Luke’s Medical Center. He previously held faculty appointments at Mount Sinai Hospital in Chicago and UTHealth McGovern Medical School in Houston before joining ÌÇÐÄÊÓƵ of Medicine in 2023. His clinical expertise includes advanced imaging of complex valvular and structural heart disease, interventional echocardiography, and quality echocardiography laboratory operations.
Board-certified in cardiovascular disease, Dr. Garcia-Sayan holds additional certifications in adult echocardiography, nuclear cardiology, and cardiovascular computed tomography. He has authored numerous peer-reviewed publications in the field of cardiovascular imaging, focusing on innovations in echocardiographic techniques, valvular heart disease, and multimodality imaging. His work also extends to the development of guideline documents, including his participation in several writing groups for guidelines related to structural heart interventions and echocardiography.
Dr. Garcia-Sayan is a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology and the American Society of Echocardiography (ASE), where he plays an active leadership role. He has served on the Intersocietal Accreditation Commission's Echocardiography Board of Directors since 2020, was elected to the ASE Board of Directors for the 2023-2025 term and is a member of the ASE Interventional Echocardiography Council Steering Committee for 2024-2026. In addition to his national leadership, Dr. Garcia-Sayan has served as President of the Greater Houston Society of Echocardiography and Vascular (GHSEV) since 2021, and is co-director of the Annual Houston Echo Board Review, fostering regional collaboration and education in echocardiography.
