Professional Statement

I am a physician-scientist dedicated to advancing precision medicine approaches for the treatment of pediatric heart failure. My clinical training culminated in a fellowship in pediatric cardiac critical care, and I currently serve as a pediatric cardiac intensivist at Texas Children’s Hospital. My research foundation was established through an MD/PhD at Washington University in St. Louis, and my current work focuses on elucidating the molecular mechanisms underlying pediatric heart failure and recovery. I have contributed to several impactful studies, including a collaborative investigation of congenital heart disease using multi-omic approaches published in Nature, and a first-author publication in Circulation identifying maladaptive macrophage responses following pediatric heart transplantation. I am the recipient of the Catalyst to Independence Award from the Additional Ventures Foundation, a K99/R00-equivalent grant supporting my transition to research independence. As a clinician who directly manages critically ill children with complex cardiac disease, I am uniquely positioned to translate scientific discoveries into targeted therapies. My dual roles in the Cardiac Intensive Care Unit (CICU) and laboratory have shaped a research agenda centered on delivering precise, mechanism-based interventions to improve outcomes for children with heart failure.
