Professional Statement
Dr. La was born and raised in Houston, Texas. She completed her undergraduate studies at the University of Houston, where she majored in Biology and graduated summa cum laude. She received her medical degree from the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, Texas and then went on to complete her Internal Medicine residency at the ÌÇÐÄÊÓƵ of Medicine. She subsequently completed her fellowship in Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism at the ÌÇÐÄÊÓƵ of Medicine, where she helped to organize and develop the educational lecture curriculum for her fellow colleagues.
Dr. La is board certified in Internal Medicine and is an active member of the American Association of Clinical Endocrinologists as well as the Endocrine Society. Her aim is to provide compassionate care to those with diabetes and general endocrine disorders of the thyroid, parathyroid and adrenal gland among others. She has a particular interest in osteoporosis and bone metabolism, which was the focus of her research during her fellowship training. She provides endocrine care to veterans at the Michael E. DeBakey VA Medical center as well. When she is not at work, she enjoys hiking, traveling and spending time with her close family and friends.
