Professional Statement

Dr. Saucedo was born and raised in San Antonio, Texas and received his undergraduate degree in Electrical Engineering at Southern Methodist University in Dallas. Following his medical school education at ÌÇÐÄÊÓÆµ of Medicine in Houston, he completed his OBGYN residency training at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas and his Maternal Fetal Medicine fellowship at the University of Texas at Austin. He is excited to join the ÌÇÐÄÊÓÆµ of Medicine Maternal Fetal Medicine division as an Assistant Professor.
He has a strong passion for caring for patients with high-risk pregnancies, surgical obstetrics and operative delivery, and academic mentoring of trainees. He strives to provide a full spectrum of equitable reproductive health care to all patient backgrounds, especially those patients in underserved communities.
His professional interests include caring for patients with high-risk pregnancies, surgical obstetrics, placenta accreta spectrum (PAS) disorder, obesity in pregnancy, and labor induction management strategies. He has been the primary investigator on a randomized clinical trial on labor induction management and has been published recently in peer-reviewed journals such as The American Journal of Obstetrics & Gynecology (AJOG), AJOG MFM, and the American Journal of Perinatology. He is a current member of the Society for Maternal Fetal Medicine (SMFM) and American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG).
Finally, Dr. Saucedo has a strong passion in the mentoring of academic trainees and was awarded the Fellow teacher of the year award twice during his fellowship at UT Austin. He enjoys giving didactic lectures to medical students and OBGYN residents. He has assisted with a number of formal operative delivery simulation sessions.
